Their debut album, Wasteisolation, was released independently in 2018. The duo released three additional albums, Thank You , Love and Affection for Stupid Little Bitches , and Peaceful as Hell , before breaking up in 2020. Despite no longer being a band, Black Dresses have released two additional albums, Forever in Your Heart and Forget Your Own Face . A statement written by Ada Rook, the industrial-pop group's co-founder, blamed "invasion of privacy and harassment" from so-called fans and critics targeting Devi McCallion, the band's other half. In February 2021 the band released a new album called Forever In Your Heart, making it clear that they had not, in fact, reunited.

In December, though, Black Dresses teamed up with frequent collaborator ESPer99 to release the single “WORLD PEACE,” which they recorded before their breakup. And last night, Black Dresses put a whole new album out into the world. This was the first album that I have heard from Black Dresses, and to be frank, I thought that it was pretty decent.
For a sophisticated, polished look, select a black sleeveless shift dress with a zippered closure in the back, a round neckline and three quarter length sleeves. This great dress can be worn to the office then transitions to an after work dinner party with the right accessories. If everything fits into place, Seamlessly pieced together in the most terrible way I couldn't keep it together I couldn't make it last I couldn't prove I was good, I wonder if anybody could. I can't keep it together Nothing is meant to last for that long But it doesn't make me feel better To put it in a stupid song I wonder if life is all about just falling apart And painfully becoming something else?

The show us the raw, harsh, difficult sides of being lgbtq+. Dysphoria, depression and internal conflicts are only some of the hardships that many lgbtq+ people need to deal with these days. I think that this song encompasses a lot of what the album is about.
With this sixth album, i really can say this is the best band of the last decade. You can hem and haw about death grips, but there isn't the same dips like GP and YOTS if you really "get" what makes this band so special. Specifically having the back end of your discography be as stacked as it is with like the amount of growth between them? These are some of the tightest instrumentals the group's created so far tho simple in comparison to previous. And the vocals, if you ignore the lyrics and the lack of hooks, are great!

Also, genre-wise they're somewhere up the alley of noise-pop/ electro-Industrial. Probably the most aggressive stuff labled as "pop" I've heard to this date. For anyone listening to it for the first time, Forget Your Own Face doesn’t hold back on experimentation, and a very catchy display of it, if you ask me. Comparing to the indie and noise pop aesthetics of Peaceful As Hell and the more metal-leaned Forever In Your Heart, this is probably the most I’ve enjoyed any Black Dresses instrumentals, and that is something to acknowledge. Of course I still have to mention how in some ways, some of the experimentation still leads to utterly confusing instrumental sections, maybe a bit too distracting to make a lasting impression, but still secondary effects of a duo willing to push the limits of their music to the next dimension.
I wish I had the strength to be (Rook+Devi) Everything to everybody I don't know what I need to be Hopeless dreaming Please take care of me I know there's no more place for me These ruined lives inside me scream I couldn't keep it together I couldn't make it last I couldn't keep it together But it's not that bad. There are some definite motifs on the album - god, feeling like a stranger in your own body, depression, being "stupid" and getting what you wished for. I don't think I get the whole picture yet, but I do feel like the lyrics are worth diving into. In GUAHTU the lyrics deal with how most people might precieve "lgbtq+ music" - anthems of love, eaurovision, drug queens, the whole package. Black Dresses are the exact opposite of that, in a way.
And Let's Be has some production choices that I don't really get, but they both have many qualities and many enjoyable/intriguing parts, especially in the context of the album, so, yeah. Still decent, some great sections even in the more "oh, that's nice but not really good" tracks. On February 14, 2021, the duo released their fifth studio album, Forever in Your Heart, announcing it 30 minutes prior to its release.
With a short black dress or maxi dress on hand, you’ll be instantly ready for shopping outings with friends, summer weddings, or laidback gatherings. Comfortable and adaptable to a variety of activities year round, a casual black dress easily transitions from a chic daytime look to a refined evening style when you change up your shoes and accessories. It’s a short record, and just like any other short record, Forget Your Own Face comes with its limitations. But with enough underdeveloped song structures and the same vocal and lyrical gimmicks, if you weren’t a fan of the duo’s output up until this point, chances are this won’t be the time for you to fall in love with them either.
