A maxi is the easy to wear and comfortable to carry outfit that you can opt for in the hot summer days. It is also available in a large number of prints and designs to express your own style and personality. This Phase Eight dress worn by Susanna Reid would make for great occasion wear or be a glamorous addition for an evening outing.

Below the knee dresses should be a staple in your wardrobe. Scarves help to change a boring outfit in minutes. You can just grab a pretty scarf and wear it with a simple shirt and your outfit won’t be as boring anymore. Trousers or linen pants are something that will keep you more comfortable than jeans so you should definitely grab those. Make sure you have undergarments that are good and keep you comfortable.

I agree with another poster- comfortable, attractive shoes are so important and often difficult to find. Ho hum…I see many of these articles about how to dress as an older woman, and I didn’t even dress like this when I was younger. How about effortless, casual style that’s not frumpy and/or tries too hard, not so “put together”…subtle style, less is better. There’s got to be better options out there for us oldsters. I just turned 60 and being called an older senior lady is way too condescending.

A nice pair of shoes that will keep you comfortable as well as looking chic is what you need. You can either buy sandals or shoes, whichever keeps you more at ease. When it comes to classic wardrobe separates, it's hard to beat our women's skirts. For everyday glamour, a longer length skirt — such as our midis and maxis — is perfect. Pleated fabric helps them to move beautifully while the side slits up the leg give you even more flexibility.

Unfortunately, this particular demographic is overlooked. I had high hopes for this post…I’m disappointed. I’m 72 and not quite plus sized and appreciate the outfits with skirts and dresses as I can’t wear pants.

The little black dress can go from office to evening wear with ease, which is why this one basic piece of clothing has withstood the test of time. To give you an example of what I mean, say you have a classic black dress you want to wear. Accessorize the black dress with a red belt at the waist and a statement earring. This gives you a pop of color and texture mixed with the classic elements of a black dress. If you’ve got a classic wrap dress in a subtle pattern to wear, try accessorizing that with a great necklace and a bracelet to achieve a similar result. This is exactly why wrap dresses are perfect for women over 60.

The silhouette doesn’t show too much skin but doesn’t completely hide your shape. This will be a much more figure-flattering route and avoid that frumpy look so many women fall into as we get older. Articles that state find your own style, but add tips like loose tops, slimmer bottoms, or the opposite slim top loose bottoms are reminders to carefully choose your clothing.
